The Original Herrmann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will present a show at Ohio University-Chillicothe’s Charles and Daisy Black Equestrian Center at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28. The equestrian center is located at 32505 U.S. Route 50 East near Londonderry. There are signs near the highway marking the center. Fifteen stallions travel with the tour to present a 90-minute performance. The famous white stallions will perform the rare and beautiful Airs Above the Ground Mounted as seen in Walt Disney’s Miracle of the White Stallions. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to 12 and are available at the Bennett Hall Information desk at OU-C. Cash only. Tickets at the gate the day of the show are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 6 are admitted free of charge. OU-C faculty member Barbara Mahaffey recently earned her doctor of philosophy degree in education with a major in counselor education from Ohio State University.
Her dissertation, “Effect of Adding a Patient Computer-Mediated Symptom Tracking System to a Partial Hospitalization Treatment Program,” was submitted for publication with OhioLINK, her eighth publication since 2004.
Mahaffey’s specialty is marriage, couples and family counseling.
Mahaffey, assistant professor/program coordinator of the Human Services Technology program, earned her bachelor’s degree in communication and her master’s degree in education in community counseling from Ohio University, taking courses at OU-C. She is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervising counselor credential. Mahaffey joined the OU-C faculty in June 2005.

The Continuing Education Office at Ohio University-Chillicothe is offering several workshops in areas to improve business and personal skills such as computer programs, software and operating systems; Web design, professional development; Web design; and digital photography this summer. The classes are designed for individuals of various skill levels and interests. Classes are offered for beginning, intermediate and advanced stages in Microsoft Office, as well as an introductory class in digital photography, Microsoft FrontPage and Microsoft Publisher. Prices are $69 to $79, with a 20 percent discount for senior citizens. Participants will also be working with formulas, functions, and graphics. Learn the basic steps to capturing your own images digitally. You will also obtain an introductory knowledge of how to manipulate and enhance your photos through the use of software. In this course we will focus on the basics of how to use digital cameras, how to transform your photographs into quality prints, and how to create them in a way that captures the moment perfectly. We will also demonstrate how to scan your already printed photographs into digital images that can be posted on online, emailed to your family and friends and stored digitally for years to come.Requirements: You will need to bring your own digital camera, and a photograph that youwould like to scan for digital storage.Sat., July 18 ● 8:30 am - 4:30 pm ● $79.
