Award-winners have been announced for the 19th Annual OU-C Student Art Show. The show is on display in the Patricia Scott Gallery in Bennett Hall through June 4. A reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 28. The event awards are sponsored by the OU-C Cultural Committee.
The judge is James Allen, artist and professor of painting, photography and criticism at the University of Rio Grande.
Winners include:
Best of Show ($65 prize): RG McGlone, 3 ceramic spheres
First Place Award: Nicole Pickerrell, Bi lo, photograph
Second Place Award: Sarah Strausbaugh, Self Portrait, painting
Third Place Award: Whitney Bland, Corn for Dinner, artist’s book
Honorable Mention Awards: Whitney Bland, Process of Aggression, painting on panel; Kimberly Roush, Ocean Shape, ink of vellum; Anna Goen, Warrior, ceramics; Ashley McAfee, Nature Conquers All, ceramic and acrylics.
Patricia Scott Award of Excellence for a Body of Work: Whitney Bland ($75 award is selected and funded anonymously)
