I am pleased to announce that Dr. Donna Burgraff has accepted an appointment as the next Dean of the Chillicothe Campus. Following a national search to replace outgoing Dean, Rich Bebee, who leaves the position on June 30, 2010, Dr. Burgraff will begin her term as Dean on August 1, 2010. I have asked Associate Dean, Michael Lafreniere, to serve as Acting Dean of the campus during the one-month interim.

Dr. Burgraff brings with her a broad and progressive career in higher education. Currently serving as Dean of the College of Business, Education and Professional Studies at Southwest Minnesota State University in Minnesota, Dr. Burgraff has also previously held administrative positions at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, Marshall University in West Virginia, and at the Williamson Campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College.

A native of eastern Kentucky, Dr. Burgraff earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with German. She holds two master’s degrees: one in Education in Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University and the other in Adult Education from Marshall University. She earned an EdD in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University.

Finally, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the members of the search committee, and especially to the Chair, Dr. Lisa Wallace, for your dedication to the task, commitment of time, and serious and thoughtful approach to through the entire process. I should also add that I truly appreciated the participation of so many members of the faculty, staff and Coordinating Council for your input and feedback during the candidate visits.

I hope all of you will now join me in welcoming Dr. Burgraff to Ohio University and especially the Chillicothe Campus. I am confident that she will be a strong and effective leader for Ohio University, both on the campus and in the Chillicothe community.

  1. Hopefully the new Dean will have better success with communication for all on campus. It would be an enormous boost for moral and hopefully some could regain their enthusiasm for the job they signed on for.
Maybe Rick Bebee will succeed in his newest pursuits.
