In this Student Services position, her focus will include activities involved in various aspects of student success such as the retention, counseling, advising of students and career services activities. Among her responsibilities are supervising the campus testing services center, providing counseling to students with special needs and those on academic probation status.

Since September 2009, Tanedo has served as an academic advisor at OU-C, with an emphasis on the areas of student advising, career services, retention support and assisting with entrance placement-test procedures.

She has a strong background in education. Tanedo is a former substitute teacher at Bishop Flaget School in Chillicothe, a former board member and president of the Bishop Flaget School Board and is a current member of the Chillicothe High School Parent Advisory Committee.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Ohio State University and was a territory sales manager for Wyeth Laboratories in Philadelphia, Pa. She then was managing director of First Capital enterprises in Chillicothe from 1988 to 1992. In this position, Tanedo was responsible for coordinating employment opportunities for area residents, including developmentally disabled individuals.

“With her educational background and professional experience, Martha has ideal credentials for this position,” OU-C Director of Student Services John Fisher said. “As an OU-C staff member, she has proven to be an outstanding colleague who truly cares about the success of our students. With the campus’ current high enrollment, our emphasis is continually increasing in all areas of student success, especially advising, retention and career preparation. I am confident that Martha will successfully lead the effort in these important areas.”
