OU-C to offer academic minor in coaching education

Ohio University-Chillicothe will offer an academic minor in coaching education beginning fall semester 2012. The Coaching Education Minor is open to any Ohio University student with an interest in coaching, whether at the volunteer youth level or varsity-sport level.

The coaching education minor will provide students interested in athletic coaching (e.g., youth, interscholastic or intercollegiate) with the opportunity to gain applied experiences and knowledge in the profession. Students with a coaching minor will strengthen their skills and knowledge to be able to assist head coaches and increase their potential for eventually earning a master's degree in coaching education.

The minor is open to all students regardless of their chosen major. Education majors are especially encouraged to consider the option.

Students will typically complete requirements over a two-year period. Interested students should consult with their academic advisor or contact athletics director Kim McKimmy at kellyk@ohio.edu or (740) 774-7222 for more information on the program and course offerings.
