Whitney Henness, from Unioto High School in Chillicothe, has announced her intention to attend the Ohio University-Chillicothe (OU-C) campus and play softball beginning in the fall of 2012. Henness has been a varsity starter in high school, sporting a battering average of more than .400 during her sophomore and junior seasons.

She is a high quality, versatile player, having spent time at third base and the outfield and she has experience catching. Also, Henness has played four years of travel ball for the Chillicothe Chill which is “one of the things we look for in our softball recruiting” says OU-C head coach George Beck. “Travel ball experience is important to maintaining a quality softball program.”

Importantly, she is also a scholar-athlete and has been awarded the Robert E. Shaeffer Scholarship at OU-C.

The Chillicothe campus competes in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference and fields women’s teams in volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis, as well as men’s teams in basketball, golf, baseball and tennis.
