Community sponsors needed for treat tables

The 11th annual Trick or Treat Extravaganza Event has been scheduled at Ohio University-Chillicothe’s Shoemaker Center on October 28, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Each year, OU-C’s Human Services Association (HSA) student organization works to provide a safe place for children and families to attend. The student club and Trick or Treat Extravaganza Event also provides students majoring in OU-C’s Human Service Technology program a learning opportunity as they organize and host a community-oriented service event.

Currently, the students are seeking organizations, businesses, agencies, and interested persons to sponsor treat tables, game prizes, bounce houses, safety educational activities, and arts and craft supplies.

One of the most popular elements of the Trick or Treat Extravaganza is the Treat Alley held along the upper walkway around the gym floor. The treat table sponsors are to bring sealed bags of store purchased candy and arrive at the Shoemaker gym between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on the day of the event.  There is no charge to sponsor a table. Table space and two chairs are provided for each Treat Alley table sponsor.

The HSA is also collecting donations toward their purchase of large amounts of candy to be distributed during the evening.

For more information about the event, contact Barbara Mahaffey, Human Services Technology Program Coordinator, at (740) 774-7287 or by email at mahaffey@ohio.edu.
