New Continuing Education course focuses on healthy New Year for participants

The Continuing Education office has expanded its offerings this year and is including an exciting community program beginning later this month. One benefit is that it aligns perfectly with achieving that New Year’s resolution.

The 90-minute walk, jog, run course is set to begin on January 15 for individuals of all fitness levels. It will take participants through the basics of running, including stretching, warmups and cooldowns, all in a fun group setting.

The group will meet each week at 2 p.m. at the OUC Health and Wellness Center which will provide the perfect location in the event of inclement weather during the cold winter months.

“We really mean it when we say 'all fitness levels!' Join us as we explore classic routes like the floodwall or new areas in our rich natural trail system of Southern Ohio," said Dr. Brenda Phillips, Associate Dean of OUC. "Come with your friends or make new ones as we support each other to reach our fitness goals and enjoy our local outdoors.”

Participants will gain understanding of the fundamentals of running, including building a safe, progressive training program suited for their abilities. Additionally, they will receive a discount for OUC’s Health and Wellness Center.

The cost for registration is $85 for the eight-week program and will be led by Kim Lafreniere. Spots are limited so sign up now -
